Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Unit position requiring a WI or compact RN license and strong experience with vents and drips.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Critical Care (ICU) unit within a hospital setting
  • 16-bed unit caring for high-acuity patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 2 : 1; may be 1 : 1 for CRRT or very unstable patients, and up to 3 : 1 for step-down overflow
  • Care for patients requiring ventilators, multiple drips, and assist with line placements, bronchoscopy, and chest tube procedures
  • Uses Epic for charting, Pyxis medication systems, GE Monitors, Stryker ICU beds, Caminos, and Maquet Booms
  • 12-hour varied shifts required with every other weekend and holiday coverage
  • Will never work alone; no on-call responsibility
  • Floating primarily between MSICU and CICU, with potential to float to the step-down (CTU, IMC) and Med-Surg units, and to nearby facilities within 30-40 miles
  • Expect to assist with advanced procedures including bedside line placement, bronchoscopy, and chest tubes
  • All scrubs allowed; must wear close-toed, nonslip shoes
  • Standard orientation includes general nursing sessions and two unit-specific shifts
  • Contract staff are given first floating assignments facility-wide
  • Floating to nearby regional facilities (Wausau, Merrill, Langlade) may be required
  • Travelers required to float as needed throughout the facility
  • Facility may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week contract
  • Holiday rotation required
  • No guaranteed hours during orientation
  • Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN and TNCC preferred but not required
