Dental Assistant I

The Dental Assistant assists the dentist with examinations, treatments, and procedures to maintain patient comfort, and safety and to facilitate patient care.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Operates dental radiographic equipment for oral radiography, which requires proper patient positioning and application of radiation protection devices.
• Packages and sterilizes instruments according to policy and procedure and prepares instruments to be sent to SPD for sterilization.
• Makes referral and / or consult appointments and schedules patients for outpatient procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and / or pre-certifications for insurance purposes as appropriate.
• Uses Dental Software to maintain patient records, schedule appointments, post charges, and collect fees.

Education :

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Experience :

One year dental assisting experience preferred.

Licensure / Certification :

Basic Life Support (BLS) and dental x-rays within 90 days of hire required. Certification as a dental assistant or equivalent job experience preferred.
