Work Arrangement : Hybrid (In-office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; remote Wednesday and Friday)
Position Summary :
Consumers Energy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II to join our Gas Metering and Regulation (M&R) Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control (EI&C) team. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering design and support for projects involving electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and SCADA systems in gas regulation and metering facilities. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead project engineering and design efforts for :
Site electrical power distribution and lighting
Pressure and temperature instrumentationHVAC systemsElectrical valve actuatorsSCADA / PLC systemsPerform product and process research to support engineering designsProvide field technical support during construction activitiesDraft, review, and revise technical specifications and documentationCoordinate with cross-functional internal teams, including Operations, Project Management, Supply Chain, and Gas ControlCollaborate with external service providers, construction contractors, and stakeholdersDevelop bid packages, support RFP processes, and evaluate contractor proposalsRequired Skills & Experience :
Electrical system design / installation for hazardous locations and oil & gas facilities in compliance with NEC / NFPA 70Proficient in AC / DC schematic design and interpretationStrong understanding of :Digital pressure and temperature instrumentation
Analog 4-20mA signal systemsSCADA and PLC equipmentSolid state and electromechanical relay systemsMODBUS serial communication network design and troubleshootingElectrical valve actuators and solenoid valve systemsElectrical construction practices and standardsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, project managers, and contractorsAbility to manage multiple project interfaces and stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (preferred); alternative degrees in Mechanical, Chemical, etc. will be considered with relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license is desirableFamiliarity with PMI’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is a plusHands-on field experience as an electrician, technician, or in construction trades is advantageous
