BKF Engineers is seeking a talented and motivated Lead Land Use Planner to join our team!
As a Lead Land Use Planner, you will be responsible for managing projects focused on land use planning, zoning, and urban design. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and contribute to sustainable development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage comprehensive land use planning projects from concept through implementation.
- Conduct technical research and analysis to inform planning decisions, including demographic, environmental, and economic considerations.
- Prepare detailed planning reports, zoning ordinances, and implementation strategies.
- Engage with clients, communities, and regulatory agencies to gather input and facilitate workshops.
- Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and design teams to integrate land use plans into broader project proposals.
- Mentor and guide junior planners and staff in best practices and technical skills.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for future projects.
- Prepare and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and community boards.
- Stay current on land use trends, policies, and regulatory changes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.A minimum of 7 years of experience in land use planning or urban development.Certified Planner (AICP) designation is preferred.Strong knowledge of land use planning principles and zoning regulations.Proven ability to lead projects, manage teams, and deliver quality results on time.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to diverse audiences.Proficient in GIS software and planning-related tools.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, team members, and the public.Willingness to travel to project sites and local government meetings as needed.Physical Demands
Must be able to regularly communicate and operate a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Occasionally, you may need to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
Work Conditions
This role will involve both office work and fieldwork, with occasional exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Benefits
