Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 10 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days, nights Employment Type : Travel Med Surg (Medical Surgical) 2 years exp required Required Certifications : BLS, NIHSS RN license Covid Card and references Years of Experience : 2 Years Unit Overview Unit Name : Med Surg / Tele – Inpatient Surgical (3rd Floor) Accepts : Local clinicians Beds : 48 (split between two buildings) Primary Model : Primary care nursing ‍⚕️ Staffing & Ratios RN : Patient Ratios : Nights 1 : 4–6 LPNs : Available Virtual nurses : Assist with admissions & discharges Charge Nurse : Days – Blessing staff nurse (typically non-assigned) Nights – May be house supervisor; smaller assignment to assist CNA / Nurse Aides : Present but may be pulled as sitters (more available on nights) Tele Techs : Yes, monitor techs present; RNs interpret their own strips Telemetry Brand : Draeger Required Certifications BLS (Basic Life Support) NIHSS (Stroke Scale) Common Diagnoses / Patient Types Neuro : Laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI Surgical : Abdominal surgeries (ostomies, hernia repair), joint replacements (hips / knees) Vascular : Fem-pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertion, BKA, AKA Medical : Sepsis, chronic pain, DM, dialysis (on same floor) Therapies : PCA, epidurals, IV antibiotics, TPN, Lipids Other : Post-op urgent OR cases Skills & Experience Required Minimum 1 year surgical experience (required) Total joint experience mandatory Proficiency with : PCA pumps & reversal agents (e.g., Narcan) Sepsis management TPN / Lipid administration Narcotic management Drips & Monitoring Titrated : Heparin (per protocol) Set rate drips : Various as ordered ️ RT / Equipment CPAP : Home units (patient-owned) Airvo : Possible BiPAP : Occasional (remains on unit) RT : Manages respiratory equipment Scheduling & Shifts Shift : 3×12-hour shifts, starting at 0700 Scheduling : Self-scheduling allowed (discuss with leader) No guaranteed block scheduling Schedule released 6 weeks in advance Weekends : Every other weekend (Sat / Sun) Holidays : In rotation with core staff Call / Standby : None Floating : To like units only If floated to higher acuity → support role (no full patient load) Dress Code / Orientation Scrub Color : Black Orientation : 1 × 12-hour shift on assigned unit / shift First day : 12–14 hours for competencies, computer modules, general orientation About Talent4Health A leader and innovator, offering comprehensive talent solutions for the healthcare industry across the nation.
