POSITION SUMMARY : The Host is responsible for ensuring the prompt recognition and seating of all guests, and assists the servers in providing attentive, courteous and efficient service to guests throughout their dining experience. Host will make reservations, answer the phone, and ensure menus are present at the Host stand for guest deployment.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Greet and speak to all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness.
- Know all menu items and wine suggestions to compliment particular foods.
- Communicating clearly and effectively with guests and co-workers
- Make sure all menus are wiped down, free of spots or stains, and complete.
- Make sure entry doors are clean, free of debris and inviting.
- Answer phones in a prompt manner with appropriate scripting.
- Supervise the floor during operation and notify management of any issues.
- Plan out the seating chart and organize the reservations (planning is everything when running an effective host stand).
- Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs.
- Receive and record guests' dining reservations via Open Table.
- Periodically wipe down the door handles, frame, and high-touch point areas.
- Direct guests to waiting areas.
- Greets guests, escort them to their table, pull seats for patrons, and present menus.
- Make sure server is aware they have been sat.
- Keep the counts for individual server so things come out fair at the end of the day.
- Keep an eye out that the dining room, entryway, bathrooms, and menus are kept clean throughout operations.
- Bid farewell to the guests.
- Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers' concerns are addressed
- Must stay up to date with general knowledge about our concept and cuisine.
- Must have a professional and well-groomed appearance, as the host is the first impression of the restaurant
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues.
- Service oriented, must have a professional attitude, you will be dealing with high-end customers.
- Adhere to all state and federal requirements regarding the sale of alcohol.
- Adhere to all Health Department requirements.
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company.
- Any other duties as assigned by the company in order to operate the business most efficiently
