  • The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care per the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. The RN serves as an advocate for patients / families / caregivers and models a commitment to the organizations vision / mission / values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.\n
  • The Registered Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for the care of the patient. The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for providing and maintaining a therapeutic milieu through fundamental psychiatric nursing techniques and supervising therapeutic activities in accordance with relevant standards and regulations as well as clinical and administrative policies. Within the Emergency Department POD, works closely with Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit staff to care for assigned patients and efficiently achieve desired disposition.\n
  • What you will do in this role : \n
  • Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and / or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.\n
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.\n
  • Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.\n
  • Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery.\n
  • Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface between healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient groups.\n
  • Demonstrates effective skills in all forms of communication. Works well with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.\n
  • Maintains education and development appropriate for the position.\n
  • Adheres to established hospital and department guidelines and protocols. Supports hospital mission, vision, and values.\n
  • Performs position specific job functions at an acceptable level.\n
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of BHU admission process as well as discharge and transfer processes.\n
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and respect to the patient, the patients family and / or significant other as an individual and family unit.\n
  • Demonstrates working understanding of patient rights and confidentiality; adheres to mental health patient bill of rights as posted on the unit.\n
  • Identifies cultural and religious needs, language barriers, developmental needs, etc., and modifies plan of care as necessary to accommodate those needs.\n
  • Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of a patients status and interprets appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his / her age-specific needs, and provides age-appropriate care as described in clinical services policies and procedures.\n
  • Serves as an advocate for patients, family, and significant other(s) in regard to decisions affecting the plan of care.\n
  • Verbalizes the process for referral when ethical dilemmas arise.\n
  • Provides for the privacy of patients / family.\n\nWhat qualifications you will need : \n
  • NH Registered Nurse license or compact Registered Nurse license\n
  • Associate Degree in Nursing\n
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date\n
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date\n\nSituated in Portsmouth, NH, Portsmouth Regional Hospital is a premier 234-bed acute care facility that offers exceptional healthcare services to the Seacoast region of Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire.
