Responsibilities River Oaks Hospital, located minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a -bed psychiatric facility that has provided quality treatment to individuals suffering from and/or since 0. Situated on a -acre campus, inpatient services are available for adults and adolescents. We also offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults.
The New Orleans Institute provides specialized services for the treatment of trauma and compulsive behaviors. The Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for male and female adults with anorexia, bulimia, and related eating disorders. Both the and the are nationally recognized for their excellence. These programs receive referrals from around the United States and are acknowledged as leading centers in their respective fields.
River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Activity Therapy Aide PRN to assist with planning, organizing, and administering an integrated Activities Therapy function for the patients of River Oaks Hospital under the direction of the Director of Activity Therapy; Provides activities and service for all patient population within the assigned groups and area of specific expertise. Provides support to the Director of Activity Therapy to assist in facilitating all aspects of Activity Therapy, or other duties as assigned aligned with the facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.
Job Duties may include but are not limited to :
- Assists in assessing patient's leisure, social and recreational abilities, deficiencies, interests, barriers, life experiences, needs and potential.
- Assists in conducting group psychotherapy and psychoeducational sessions as needed.
- Demonstrates a high level of knowldge in the application of various therapeutic concepts, methods and interventions related to trauma and compulsive behaviors, addiction and behavioral modification.
- Assists in provideing in-depth therapy assessments of each patient where additional informtion is requested through analysis of the non verbal medium.
- Establishes relevant and attainable goals for the patient.
- Deals effectively with a variety of patient diagnoses and age groups.

Qualifications Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in psychology or human services foeld preferred. Specialized skills development preferred in recreation, art, music, dance therapy.
- License/certification not required. Must operate under guidance of staff with Certification or Registration in area of expertise from applicable certification board. (Ex: Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), Certified Board for Music Therapists (CBMT), American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA), National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certifications (NCTRC).
- Must maintain CPR certification.
- Good communication skills, stable emotional make-up, ability to work under stress, professional conduct, appropriate boundaries, setting limits and maintaining confidentiality are a must.
