THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT :

The Public Safety Officer position exists to create and maintain a welcoming safe and secure environment at Normandale Community College. The position maintains a high level of public relations and effective communications with campus community members while performing routine Public Safety duties in accordance with established guidelines including : patrolling assigned areas to ensure personal building and equipment security; educating students staff faculty and visitors about rules and policies; warning violators of rule infractions; applying traffic and parking ordinances laws and college policies; responding to campus and medical emergencies; completing required recordkeeping; and performing dispatch duties as needed. Provides training and work direction to student workers in the Public Safety Department.

This position will actively advance the colleges strategic goals including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture through individual and departmental efforts.
