Job description

Your Overarching Role

Your role as an Assistant Cafe Manager is to support the Café Manager in leading daily operations, ensuring exceptional hospitality, and helping guide the team to deliver an outstanding guest experience. You will act as a hands-on leader on the floor, upholding our standards, coaching team members, and maintaining a consistent, welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Café Manager in facilitating smooth service : efficiency, consistency, flexibility, and focus are the core qualities you should model and help others develop.
  • Lead by example and work as part of the team, taking a hands-on approach and reinforcing a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Ensure proper care of all products—food, drinks, tea, equipment, and café spaces—to uphold quality and brand standards.
  • Maintain and monitor café appearance, including staff grooming, cleanliness, organization, and ambiance (such as music level and overall environment).
  • Foster a respectful and positive atmosphere with guests, team members, suppliers, vendors, neighbors, and anyone interacting with the café.
  • Represent the company positively even outside of work—whether on social media or in general conversations about your role.
  • Support training, coaching, and onboarding of team members, reinforcing hospitality standards and operational procedures.
  • Take ownership of shift execution, ensuring smooth transitions between dayparts and communicating clearly with the Café Manager.
  • Show pride in your work and lead the team with integrity and enthusiasm.
  • Put a nice, genuine smile on your face!

To summarize : Work closely with the Café Manager to present a harmonious, well-run operation to our guests—making them feel as comfortable choosing us as we feel taking care of them.

Experience & Technical Requirements

  • Prior experience in café or restaurant operations; leadership experience is a plus.
  • Strong emphasis on hospitality; restaurant experience is highly preferred.
  • Valid Food Protection certification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage a shift, and communicate effectively with the Café Manager.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a passion for delivering great guest experiences.
