Job Description

Position is responsible for assisting with System Accounting activities including : general ledger month-end close, account analysis, and reconciliations, including sub-system reconciliations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Licenses / Certifications : None

Experience / Knowledge / Skills :

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and financial accounting knowledge
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Principal Accountabilities

  • Prepares and uploads standard journal entries to the general ledger, including the consolidation of business units and corresponding eliminating entries, to prepare system financials. Ensures the accuracy of the recorded transactions.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts with various monthly statements (bank statements, sub-system ledgers), makes adjustments as necessary, and reports material variances to management.
  • Assists with preparing schedules for financial reporting to internal and external sources, to include auditor requests. Compiles financial data to aid higher level accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  • Collects financial data to assist higher level accountants in analyzing expenses, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.
  • Assists with projects of limited complexity in a support role, including the development of processes and controls.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory / continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
