Job description

Construction Superintendent - Commercial Construction

We are seeking a mid-level Superintendent to join our team in Virginia Beach to oversee several hotel construction projects. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in commercial projects, particularly in hotel builds.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure all start packages are complete and accurate before construction begins.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure they follow the established plan and schedule.
  • Maintain current lead times for contractors and suppliers.
  • Schedule and oversee the completion of all municipal inspections.
  • Ensure cycle time goals are met.
  • Follow company processes for internal in-lines and quality inspections.
  • Schedule material deliveries to avoid theft and damage, ensuring accuracy in quality and quantity.
  • Communicate material variances and returns according to company policy.
  • Review job-specific information with contractors before they start and enforce all policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback on contractor performance and maintain a beneficial relationship with them.
  • Communicate any conflicts with the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain established standards for community appearance and enforce all job site rules.
  • Control construction costs by maintaining budgets, approving bills post-work completion, and managing site waste.
  • Develop and utilize a feedback system to improve plans, correct estimates, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure all construction sites are walked daily and adhere to quality control systems.
  • Enforce quality standards for materials and workmanship.
  • Stay knowledgeable about scopes of work, contracts, codes, and blueprints.
  • Serve as a professional representative, maintaining high ethics in all interactions.

Essential Skills :

  • 10+ years of experience as a Commercial Superintendent.
  • Experience with commercial projects valued at $10M+.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in construction management, blueprint reading, and project scheduling.
  • Experience with ground-up construction projects and site supervision.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications :

  • Experience with hotel builds is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Experience in subcontractor management.
  • Work Environment :

    The work environment involves outdoor construction sites with standard hours from 8 AM to 4 : 30 PM. The company offers competitive pay, a vehicle allowance, a technology package, and direct access to ownership, providing opportunities for growth and advancement.

    Job Type & Location :

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

    Pay and Benefits :

    The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
