Other Conditions : Fall 2024, part-time, for lecturer candidate pool, non-tenurial, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and actual staffing requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in the discipline.
  • Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to meet student learning objectives, prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under supervision of discipline coordinator / division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  • Student and peer evaluations and self-assessment of teaching effectiveness are required.
  • Commitment to community college principles and philosophy is essential.
  • Must be available for evening and weekend teaching assignments, teaching on campus, off-campus at military bases, secondary education sites (high schools) and / or distance learning assignments for courses taught via the internet. This is not a remote position. For some teaching fields, openings may only be available for classes offered on military bases or taught via the Internet. To teach on a military base, Department of Defense security clearance will be required. To teach Early College courses for DOE schools, background checks will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Unless a related field is listed, the degree must be in the subject area. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
  • Master’s in Zoology
  • Desirable Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
  • Work experience related to course to be taught.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with competency-based instruction and behavioral objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Experience in the use of technology to support instruction and student success, including but not limited to LMS, CRM, Early Alert and presentation software.
  • A willingness to adapt to new technology platforms.
