JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Manager
DEPARTMENT: Quality
REPORTING TO: General Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
As the Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for developing a world-class quality assurance department and driving plant wide continuous improvement that results in unparalleled quality performance. You will have the opportunity to reinforce foundational quality principles, as we develop innovative manufacturing and inspection processes at the leading edge of manufacturing and fabrication technology. This position will be responsible for managing, coordinating and administering all functions of the site’s Quality Management System, including receiving inspection activities, quality engineering, supplier quality management, and any required QA/QC analysis.
The Quality Assurance Leads quality assurance organization focusing on customer satisfaction, process improvement, team development in electronics manufacturing, driving regulatory compliance, reducing defects, and managing quality metrics. Plans, coordinates, and directs the quality assurance program to ensure continuous production of electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical sub-assemblies, assemblies, and system-level products that meet established standards in regulated market segments. This is accomplished by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and/or individual contributor team members
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine current standards and establish proposed quality and reliability targets for finished PCBA assemblies and other products.
- Lead and mentor Quality Assurance department consisting of quality engineers, quality analysists, receiving inspection, and in-process QA/QC personnel.
- Leads the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of quality management systems, including ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, and Nadcap standards.
- Formulates and maintains quality control objectives aligned with corporate goals and compliance requirements for aerospace and electronics manufacturing.
- Establishes and implements inspection criteria and test procedures specific to electronic assemblies and PCBA production processes.
- Communicates quality control philosophy across departments and ensures understanding of quality standards and procedures.
- Collaborates with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and overall product reliability.
- Oversees inspection and testing activities across the production cycle—including soldering, assembly, and final test—to ensure product integrity and compliance.
- Leads supplier quality initiatives and works closely with vendors to meet internal and customer quality expectations for electronic components and assemblies.
- Supports environmental and functional testing protocols appropriate for electronic products used in high-reliability industries such as aerospace and defense, medical and industrial.
- Applies total quality management tools and methodologies to support internal audits, customer audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience in PCBA manufacturing and quality control within electronics or aerospace industries is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems, including audit preparation and compliance.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive accountability for quality performance.
- Minimum of 4 years of quality experience required; 10 years preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or Science related discipline
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality engineering or related area in a manufacturing environment with prior exposure to the following: PCBA manufacturing, electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical sub-assemblies, assemblies, and system level products.
- Detailed knowledge and hands on experience with quality tools, including process flowcharts, FMEA's, control plans, CAPA, RCCA and 8D required.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485 certified environment required. Nadcap experience and familiarity with AS9102 FAls a plus.
- Industry certifications (e.g., ASQ CQE, IPC-A-610 IPCJ-STD-001)) are a plus
- This position required access to export-controlled technology and data. Applicants for this position must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position is a "hands-on" role in both office and manufacturing floor environments. In the shop, you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, machines, and material handling vehicles. PPE is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have good hearing and vision, be able to walk the shop floor, and lift up to 20 pounds.
