Must-Have : 2 years of OR experience

Description :

The unit includes 7 OR suites.

There are 15-20 cases performed per day.

Techs and RNs must have BLS certification.

The electronic medical record system is Cerner Surginet.

A charge nurse is available but not 24 / 7.

OR techs are present during procedures.

RNs are required to be on call for one weekend per month.

CSTs are also required to be on call for one weekend per month.

Call response time is 30 minutes.

Staff will work holidays only in emergencies.

Scrub color is provided.

Telecommunications equipment used is Phillips.

Surgeon on call hours are 24 / 7.

The RT team is available 24 / 7.

Pharmacy services are not available 24 / 7; after-hours support is provided by an external service.

Shifts are 8 hours with variable start times, scheduled by the manager.

Floating between units is not required.

Floor-specific orientation depends on skillset.

Common types of cases include a high volume of orthopedic procedures, general surgeries, gynecological surgeries, pediatric surgeries, and eye surgeries.

Experience in cardiac procedures is not required for travelers.

Examples of cardiac procedures include open-heart surgeries, carotid endarterectomies, and TAVRs.

Scrubbing is required for the position.

Scrubbing is preferred for RNs, but not mandatory.

Travel experience is preferred.

Sterile processing technicians must have BLS certification and be certified through IAHCSMM.

Equipment used includes autoclaves, Steris, and V-pro machines.

The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.

Charting is done using Cerner.

A BSN is not required.

This position is in an acute care setting.
