Financial Counselor - Medical Oncology

Summary :

Provides assistance to patients and family members regarding drug authorizations. Ensures all insurance requirements are met prior to patients receiving ordered treatment.

Responsibilities :

• Request insurance authorizations for medical treatment via online portal or by phone. Enter authorizations in various systems.
• Screen patients for charity care, COBRA and Medicaid. Help complete applications as needed.
• Work with third party payers for copay assistance.
• Review and appeal claim or authorization rejections.
• Refer patients to the Manufacturer Drug program as needed for medications.
• Collaborate with ordering providers to gain clinical insight and NCCN guidelines to effectively and efficiently gain authorizations to avoid treatment delays.
• Coordinate and facilitate peer reviews.
