Summary
The Vice President of Data Architecture & Standards will drive the firm's enterprise data vision and execution. This leader will balance hands-on architectural expertise with business alignment, ensuring trusted, scalable, and compliant data solutions that power decision-making across all business lines. The role oversees the design and evolution of the firm's entire data ecosystem-from ingestion and operational data stores to cloud data warehousing and data governance.
Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise data architecture across operational, analytical, and distribution layers
- Build and scale the firm's data governance program, including stewardship, cataloging, lineage, and quality frameworks
- Architect and maintain a modern data ecosystem featuring transactional data stores, operational data stores, and cloud-based data warehouses supporting structured and unstructured data
- Oversee ingestion and integration of data from custodians and platforms (PershingX, NFS, Fidelity, Schwab)
- Drive secure, efficient data distribution through APIs and data-as-a-service models
- Partner with cross-functional leaders in Finance, Operations, and Advisor Experience to deliver trusted, governed data supporting compensation, revenue, and client lifecycle insights
- Ensure compliance with FINRA, SEC, Reg BI, and data privacy regulations
- Lead data governance committees, define policies for classification, ownership, and access
- Publish and manage data quality scorecards, driving accountability across teams
- Foster a firmwide data-first culture focused on transparency, observability, and stewardship
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent industry experience)15+ years of experience in data architecture, governance, and management roles, including 5+ years in VP or SVP leadershipStrong familiarity with the Independent Broker-Dealer (IBD) and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) ecosystem, including custodian data flowsProven expertise in custodian data models (Pershing, NFS, Fidelity, Schwab)Hands-on experience designing enterprise-scale data ecosystems (transactional stores, ODS, and cloud warehouses)Advanced proficiency with Snowflake and other modern cloud data platforms (Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks)Experience developing secure data ingestion pipelines, APIs, and data distribution frameworksDemonstrated success implementing governance, lineage, cataloging, and data quality frameworksStrong communication and influence skills within matrixed environments
