Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist with expertise in non-profit accounting, grant financial reporting, and government billing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactionsReconcile bank and credit card statementsAssist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsEnsure compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standardsParticipate in annual audit preparation and support external auditorsMonitor and maintain the chart of accountsAssist in budget preparation and trackingGrant Financial Reporting :Manage financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, tracking, and reporting
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for grantorsMonitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements and budgetsCollaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for grant reportingMaintain detailed records of grant-related financial transactionsAssist in the preparation of grant proposals by providing financial informationEnsure proper allocation of expenses to appropriate grants and programsGovernment Billing :Prepare and submit accurate invoices to government agencies for services rendered
Ensure compliance with government billing regulations and requirementsMonitor accounts receivable related to government contractsFollow up on outstanding payments and resolve billing discrepanciesMaintain detailed records of all government billing transactionsCollaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for billingStay up-to-date with changes in government billing procedures and regulationsGeneral Accounting Tasks :Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
Perform account analysis and reconciliationsMaintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciationAssist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filingsSupport the development and implementation of accounting policies and proceduresContribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance departmentQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit setting
