BASIC FUNCTION :
The Imaging Registered Nurse is a professional who will act as a patient advocate through performance of optimal patient care by applying the principals of the nursing process, assessing patient needs, planning the interventions of care, in conjunction with other members of the health care team. Promotes staff development within the Imaging department and throughout the hospital in relation to the Imaging department and its function. Provides quality nursing care to patients.
JOB DUTIES :
Clinical : 1. Provides direct patient care
A. Assess and monitor patient condition. Initiate appropriate nursing interventions when needed, particularly
in emergencies.
B. Assist in transportation of critically ill patients.
C. Care for ED, ICU, and PCU patients in the Imaging department.
D. Provide qualified nursing duties in relation to patient care, such as urinary catheterization, medication administering, etc.
2. Assist radiologist with procedures and treatments that require professional nursing skills.
3. Assist with Informed Consent for Imaging procedures when needed.
4. Monitor clinical supplies, equipment, and medications within the department.
5. Monitor vital signs.
6. Responsible for documentation and communication of pertinent patient information to physicians, radiologists,
technologist and nursing personnel.
7. Functions as patient advocate.
8. Demonstrates skill in using special equipment and respirators.
Educational :
1. Assists in provision of patient and family education covering radiological procedures.
2. Provides staff with educational information and updated hospital procedural information when needed. Provides in-service education on CPR, patient care, and safety and infection control.
3. In-servicing of nursing personnel concerning Imaging procedures.
4. Assists in the orientation of physicians, nurses, techs and students.
5. Actively participates in continuing education programs.
Organizational :
1. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of Imaging department policies and procedures.
2. Participates in hospital, Nursing and Imaging committees.
3. Acts as a resource person for Nursing, Medical and Imaging department staff.
4. Acts as a liaison between Imaging and Nursing personnel.
5. Assists with incident reporting.
6. Performs necessary follow-up for recurring problems, incidents, etc.
7. Recommends new or revised departmental policies, procedures or regulations.
8. Consistently adheres to and demonstrates knowledge of department policy and procedures.
9. Demonstrates flexible approach to change.
10. Adheres to the attendance policy of the hospital.
11. Adheres to the scheduled work hours as per departmental policy; which may include call hours.
12. Assumes responsibility for maintenance of same hospital environment.
13. Identifies and responds promptly to potential risk factors encountered in the environment.
14. Adheres to the confidentiality standard as per department and hospital.
15. Participated in TQS.
16. Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments (Relias) on a regular basis.
17. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
1. Ability to stand on feet for 7.5 hours a day.
2. Ability to bend and walk
3. Ability to lift 25 lbs. intermittently, unassisted.
4. Able to see clearly and hear normal speaking voices.
5. Dexterity necessary to type / write legibly.
6. Able to communicate verbally, interpersonally and over the telephone in a clear speech.
