Position Summary :

As a Registered Nurse in the Special Care Unit, you will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and use the nursing process to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. You will coordinate patient care by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and communicate efficiently about the patient's clinical condition. Your role will involve responding swiftly and accurately to any changes in patient condition or treatment response.

Educational Requirements :

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Current licensure in the state of Connecticut.
  • Certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support are required upon hire or must be obtained during the introductory orientation period.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments, considering all aspects of the patient's needs.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of adult and geriatric care principles.
  • Assess and manage pain effectively, including patient and family education on pain management strategies.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient assessments and responses.
  • Administer medications accurately while following the five rights to minimize errors.
  • Ensure patient safety and promote positive outcomes through vigilant care practices.
  • Document care processes and patient responses in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Exhibit flexibility, organization, and effective judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Create and evaluate teaching plans that include family members as needed.
  • Demonstrate autonomy in practice aligned with evidence-based standards while pursuing professional development.
  • Provide thorough and relevant reports for safe patient transfer during care transitions.
  • Utilize cardiac monitoring skills to identify dysrhythmias and apply appropriate ACLS protocols for treatment.
