About The Position

Must-Have :

CERNER experience required.

Experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within the past 6 months is mandatory.

All modules must be completed prior to arrival.

Description :

This position is in a high acuity, fast-paced environment.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 1 or 1 to 2.

Charge Nurse is available 24 / 7 with no patient assignment unless absolutely necessary.

Resource Nurse is available 24 / 7.

Patient care support staff / unit clerks are present to assist with room setups and answering call lights.

Every other weekend commitment is required, although more frequent shifts may occur based on unit needs.

Holiday shifts will be assigned as per permanent staff rotation.

Scrub color requirements are navy blue, which applies to jackets and undershirts.

The telemetry system includes Phillips central monitors in the nurse station and hardwired in each room.

Ventilation equipment includes Draeger, Hamilton G5, and Galileo models.

There is a 24 / 7 Respiratory Therapy team and pharmacy services.

Shifts run from 7 PM to 7 : 30 AM, with no self-scheduling available.

Requests for time off should be submitted in advance; those made after the contract starts must be approved by management.

Floating may occur to other ICUs or for inpatient ICU holds as necessary.

Floor-specific orientation includes one shift with a preceptor.

Candidates should possess general medical and surgical ICU experience along with CVICU experience.

Common diagnoses include TAVR, Impella, IABP, and recovering fresh hearts from the OR.

Additional experience in STEMI, AAA, hypothermia, sepsis, and any MedSurg ICU patient is preferred.

Assignments can change at any time during the shift.

This unit does not utilize CRRT.

The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment for any reason.
