LONG TERM SUB COUNSELOR / GUIDANCE APPRENTICE

Job Title : School Counselor / Guidance Apprentice- Long Term Substitute

Wage / Hour Status : Exempt

Reports to : Principal Pay Grade : $250.00 per day

Dept. / School : Assigned Campus Days : as needed

Supervises : N / A

Primary Purpose : To provide educational guidance to all students.

Qualifications :

Education / Certification :

• ? Bachelor's degree (required)
• ? Valid State Teaching Certificate (Texas or Out of State required)
• ? Accepted and enrolled into a school counseling program - minimum 12 credit hours completed (required)
• ? In process of obtaining a master's degree (required)
• ? In process of obtaining a Texas school counseling certification (required)

Major Responsibilities and Duties :

Plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive guidance program as described in Texas Education Code 33 targeting identified student needs at the campus including :

o Awareness, skill development and application of the skills of everyday life including : self-confidence, self-efficacy, motivation to achieve, decision-making, goal setting, planning and problem-solving skills, interpersonal effectiveness, social skills, communication skills, cross-cultural effectiveness, responsible behavior and character development.

o Individual planning and goal setting :

o Responsive Services, prevention and intervention :

o System support including program delivery and support :

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged standing or sitting or irregular hours.

Able to lift at least 25 pounds
