Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
We are currently searching for a Full Time OR Registered Nurse to work Mondays - Fridays who can work cooperatively with staff and physicians and perform a variety of tasks. Responsible for the knowledge of principles, theories and practices of the nursing process and the ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals and to move or lift patients and equipment.
- 3 years of experience
- Current State Registered Nurse license; clear and active
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the Center
- Surgical experience is a must for certain facilities
- Effective communicator appreciates and respects others' needs, opinions, and concerns
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrates current, comprehensive, professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards and department policies including the Patient Bill of Rights and AAAHC regulations, Standards for Nursing Care and the Nurse Practice Act
- Knowledge of government regulations, HIPAA, documentation standards, and other compliance standards and ability to work in full compliance
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Proficient computer skills- ability to accurately update and manage and electronic healthcare record
- Personal protective equipment : Provided if necessary (gowns, gloves, masks, head cover)
Responsibilities
Perform initial pre-op assessment and formulates appropriate plan of care for a positive patient outcomeProvide competent care in circulating cases and efficiently providing equipment / supplies based on patients' needEffectively maintains sterile field by practicing aseptic techniquesAccurately documents patient health recordsProvides high quality care while using resources efficientlyCommunicate appropriate data to the physician and other patient care team membersInterpret and implement physician's orders; perform treatments according to accepted standards and policies; evaluate and document effectiveness of treatmentsAnticipate potential patient problems and take the necessary precautions to minimize those problems to ensure patient safety in OR and ASCIdentify and report unsafe practice and / or procedures to promote complianceInteract professionally and courteously with physicians, patients, patient's families, visitors, members of the public and co-workersEnsure that supplies and equipment are available for patient careResponsible for knowing current policies and procedures, protocol and practices of the CenterFunction within scope of practice based on licensure, education, skills and experience; Recognize limitations and asks for guidance when necessaryWork hours may be subject to change, depending on surgery scheduleHazards : Occasional contact with communicable diseases, electrical equipment, blood borne pathogens, etcCandidate must demonstrate proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills, be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, have a current state license to practice as a registered nurse, maintain basic cardiac life support certification and ACLS, and have at least 3 (three) years of operating experience.
