RN - REGISTERED NURSE - EP
PURPOSE OF POSITION :
The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical leadership and direction of patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care for patients of the Electrophysiology Lab within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of state board approved School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio
- Previous experience in an Electrophysiology Lab required
- BCLS and ACLS required.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Normally works 8-10 hours per day, with varying start times - with exception of call days, which may require more than the scheduled hours.Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff to maintain adequate unit coverage.Subject to changes of patient assignment to accommodate departmental needs.Expected to adhere to hospital policies and procedures.Expected to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for sterile, invasive procedures involving fluoroscopy such as, but not limited to hats, masks, gowns, shields, and lead radiology aprons throughout delivery of care.Hazardous exposure category 1.MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Expected to scrub, circulate, and document various EP procedures such as : cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation, PFA, pacer implant, ICD implant, CRT P / D implant, Event recorder implant, LAAC, and ablation / LAAC procedures.Expected to work in prep / recovery when not needed in EP procedures and help Cath Lab as needed.Expected to help with stocking the EP rooms during downtime, as well as put stock away in the stockroom and assess product needs.Expected to maintain a neat and clean working environment. Helping to surgically clean rooms between cases, including all equipment, as well as make sure work area is clean and all stock put away after cases are completed.Utilizing invasive monitoring, external pacer / defibrillator, and temporary pacing devices.Operating St Jude Claris (EP Med) recording systemConnecting patients to Biosense Webster and St. Jude mapping systemsPerforming arterial / venous sheath removal.Maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in all communications.Administer conscious sedation according to policy as well as document according to policy.Recovering patients from anesthesia according to policy.Assessing cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal and peripheral vascular status. Documenting findings and reporting abnormal or out of range results to physicians.Providing emotional support to patient / family by assessing anxiety and communicating effectively about procedures and delays in schedule.Proactively anticipating and responding to physician / coworker / patient or family member’s needs. Demonstrating an energetic and positive approach to work and being sensitive to customers’ physical, social and cultural needs.Communicating effectively with peers, medical, nursing and interdisciplinary staff in the delivery of care.
