ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Stack barrels and move them into a workstation; stack or dump a frequency of 40-60 barrels per day.
  • Move hoppers / half hopper / metal carts from one station to another and a storage area.
  • Move barrels from one station to another and to the storage area (barrel lines).
  • Take material from hoppers half hopper or metal carts and feed it onto tables or conveyors.
  • Take material from barrels and feed it onto tables or conveyors.
  • Deliver UN-graded (Work in Process) material to the workstation in either hoppers or barrels on a cart or half hoppers. At some stations, the material is placed on a table for sorting.
  • Push hoppers of clothes with a frequency of 50-70 carts or half hopper per day. Only a moderate effort is needed to move hoppers because of the casters.
  • Read and write production daily and complete reports.
  • All the barrels and Hoppers must be well-identified according to quality standards
  • Unload and Load trailers ranging in temperature from 100⁰ to 140⁰.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Heaviest item weighs approximately 10 lb.
  • The average weight of a garment is 1 Lb. or less.
  • The average weight of a Hopper is 1,500 lbs. (500 lbs. is the weight of the Hopper empty and 1,000 lbs. is the weight of the clothes) to push or pull a Hopper the weight is 120 Lbs.
  • The average weight of a barrel is 80 lbs.
  • The average weight of a bag is 50 lbs.
  • JOB STANDARDS :

    Each Material Handler must be able to :

  • Production standard (required lbs. / hour) is measured production set for each position based on the normal pace and normal experience level
  • Basic math of Addition and Subtract
  • Willing to do housekeeping duties such as sweeping and maintaining aisles and storage areas neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Use proper lifting techniques for barrels, bags, and the proper movement of hoppers.
  • Use safety equipment as required.
  • Overtime – willing to stay as required by the supervisor up to 5 : 30 pm and some Saturday’s w / minimal notice.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Read grade descriptions (grade descriptions are written in English and Spanish) Grade name is in English only.

    WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Airborne lint is moderate. Dust masks and safety glasses are furnished upon request. Safety glasses are required in some areas.
  • Some areas require ascending / descending stairs to reach the leave work area.
  • Wear safety gloves at all times.
  • Wear a back support belt (optional).
  • Steel-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Workstations are well-lit and ventilated for air and heat circulation.
  • One 10-minute break in the morning. (8-hour shifts), an additional 10-minute break in the afternoon (10-hour shifts)
  • ½ hour lunch
  • Workers are permitted to use water fountain and restroom at their discretion.
  • General work hours for plant employees, M-F form 6 : 55 A.M. to 3 : 25 P.M. (most areas). This work schedule is subject to change by management.
  • Payroll is paid on Fridays through Direct Deposit, if a Holiday falls on Friday, funds are posted on Thursday. The first week pay will be paid by check or Direct Deposit on the following week. Payment is basically delayed by one week.
