We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Portland, Maine. In this long-term contract position, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the development of accounting policies. Responsibilities :

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all financial activities.
• Oversee the general ledger, maintaining its integrity and ensuring compliance with established accounting standards.
• Coordinate and support financial statement audits, working closely with auditors to provide required documentation and explanations.
• Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring they meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct research and analysis on complex accounting transactions, developing and implementing policies that align with company standards.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to the accounting team, reviewing their work to ensure accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
• Assist in creating and implementing internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the reliability of financial reporting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver detailed financial analyses and insights.
• Utilize Deltek software to streamline accounting processes and enhance reporting capabilities
• Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial reports.
• Ability to research and implement accounting policies based on complex transactions.
• Skilled in mentoring and supervising accounting staff.
• Experience with establishing and maintaining internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Deltek software or similar accounting systems.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
