Web Design And User Experience Intern (Spring 2026)
RBBB is an education nonprofit addressing Arizona's literacy crisis. We connect young readers and youth leaders to inspire a love of literacy and leadership. Interns join a mission-driven, collaborative team and contribute meaningfully to programs that make a real impact.
The RBBB Web Design & User Experience Intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Manager to complete a large-scale project over the course of the internship. RBBB will be auditing and revamping its website for improved user experience, design, and functionality. In addition, the Web Design & User Experience Intern will be given the opportunity to take on tasks of personal interest, dependent upon the needs of the Strategic Initiatives Department and the organization.

Hours & Schedule : A weekly commitment of 10-15 hours is required. Interns will be expected to commit to a set schedule within RBBB's main office hours of 8 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm, Monday to Thursday.
Start and End Date : January - April / May (Spring semester)
Program Duration : Internship positions are meant to be short-term and based around academic semesters and last for 3-4 months, depending on availability. We offer : Spring, Summer and Fall positions.
Work Environment : Office (in-person) at 4730 West Campbell Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85031
Position Type : This internship is unpaid. Read Better Be Better is fully committed to providing eligible interns with all documentation necessary for them to receive course credit for their time with the organization, if they wish to do so.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide support with communications, which may include but is not limited to : website design and management (making updates), graphic design and digital content creation, photography and videography, support with brand and marketing strategy, etc.
- Improve usability and visual clarity of RBBB website, ensuring content is easy to find, well organized, and visually engaging.
- Use web design principles and best practices, along with user feedback, to make RBBB website more intuitive and accessible for a wide range of users, including educators, families, and community partners.
- Perform research tasks related to communications platforms and projects.
- Design and complete projects based on personal interest and organizational need.
- Perform other general RBBB team duties as assigned.

Having a strong proficiency in WordPress or another website building platform.Having experience designing and / or managing website(s).Familiar with web design principles (layout / visual hierarchy, accessibility, responsiveness).Attentive to detail with ability to proofread and format text / design elements to be consistent.Interested in and passionate about the Read Better Be Better mission, vision, and values.Interested in marketing and communications and / or the nonprofit sector.Preferred Qualifications & Experience :
Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Web Design, Computer Science, Digital Media, etc.).Having a strong understanding of WordPress with Elementor Web Editor.Having experience with designing for user experience (UX).Having Spanish proficiency or a basic understanding.Application & Screening Process :
Applications are submitted via the online internship portal.Applicants who are selected to move on will be asked to attend a phone screening and provide work samples and references.A final round of interviews will be conducted before the candidate is selected for the role.
