The Physical Therapy Assistant implements an individual patient therapy care plan that has been prepared by the Physical Therapist and works under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. The pay rate is $48 per visit PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Identifies possible ineffective drug therapy or adverse reactions, significant side effects, drug allergies and contra-indicated medication and reports to supervisor. Observes and records activities and findings in the clinical record and reporting to the Physical Therapist and physician the reaction to treatment and any changes in the client's condition. Instructs other health team personnel including, the appropriate Home Health Aide and family members in certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with the client. Participates with staff, client and physician in discharge activities and assist the Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapy (if appropriate) in completing Physical Therapy discharge summary within the designated framework of the Agency policies. Communicates effectively with all those providing care. As directed, performs routine strengthening and therapeutic exercises. Consults with the therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and reports physical findings in written form Writes progress notes on patients and submits them with 72 hours, as well as preparing periodic summary reports as indicated. Works in conjunction with other care providers, including Occupational Therapist Assistants Qualifications (Education and / or Experience) Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Florida Physical Therapist Assistant License and CPR Certification Valid driver's license and automobile insurance in the state of Florida Experience with the frail and elderly. Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants. Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, in any area Company serves. Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to : lifting participants and / or equipment, bending, pushing / pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
