Specialty Environmental Services Cleaning Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Specialty Environmental Services Cleaning Technician to join our Operating Room team. This role is critical to maintaining a sterile and infection-free surgical environment, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-level disinfection and terminal cleaning of ORs, procedural suites, and Sterile Processing.
  • Follow AORN and CDC infection control standards.
  • Clean and disinfect lights, anesthesia equipment, walls, floors, and surgical surfaces.
  • Use proper PPE and follow biohazard and waste disposal procedures.
  • Document cleaning schedules and processes accurately.
  • Operate and maintain approved cleaning equipment, including UV-C devices where applicable.
  • Collaborate with surgical staff and infection control teams to ensure a safe surgical environment.
  • Respond to urgent turnovers and emergency cleaning needs.

Job Qualifications

  • Required :
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of department-specific competencies within one week of hire.
  • Ability to follow infection control and disinfection procedures.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Preferred :
  • Prior hospital housekeeping or surgical cleaning experience.
  • Certification in Healthcare Environmental Services (e.g., CHEST by AHE).
