Certified Medical Assistant
The Certified Medical Assistant (MA) (NOT CNA / Med Aide) serves as a vital member of our Urology care team, providing direct patient care, administrative support, and collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and other clinical staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and deliver high-quality patient care. The MA will play a key role in supporting the unique needs of Urology patients, ensuring compassion, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions.
Location: CUMC-Bergan Urology Clinic 77th & Mercy
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p, NO weekends, NO holidays & NO call!
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Intake & Preparation: Greet and escort patients to examination rooms in a professional and courteous manner. Accurately obtain and document comprehensive patient vitals (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height). Collect and accurately document patient medical history, chief complaints, and medication lists (including allergies). Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and privacy.
- Clinical Assistance: Assist physicians and APPs with various urological examinations and procedures, including but not limited to: cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, bladder instillations, catheter changes, urine flow studies, and semen analyses. Prepare and maintain sterile environments for procedures, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols. Provide patient education and instruction as directed by the provider regarding procedures, medication administration, and post-procedure care. Perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., urinalysis, dipstick testing) and prepare specimens for external laboratory processing. Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider, strictly adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
CHI Health requires that ALL Medical Assistants MUST be a graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP).
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP)
- Successfully completed Medication Aide 40-hour course or current/valid Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
