Eastern Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Center is a veterinarian-owned, 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital providing care in anesthesia, cardiology, critical care, dentistry, internal medicine, neurology, surgery, and ophthalmology. We are seeking a Certified Veterinary Technicianto join our Ophthalmology Department, supporting our board-certified ophthalmologist in providing advanced eye care to companion animals.

About the Role

The Certified Veterinary Technician in Ophthalmology will assist in all aspects of patient care, including consultations, diagnostics, surgical procedures, and client communication. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting patient comfort through advanced veterinary medicine.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with ophthalmic exams, diagnostics, and procedures.
• Safely restrain and position patients for ophthalmic imaging and testing (e.g., tonometry, Schirmer tear testing, fluorescein staining).
• Administer medications and perform accurate documentation of treatments and findings.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for ophthalmic surgeries.
• Maintain, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and ophthalmic equipment.
• Provide discharge instructions and client education on postoperative care, medication administration, and follow-up.
• Support inpatient and outpatient nursing care to ensure continuity and quality of treatment.
• Communicate effectively with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal departments to coordinate care.
