What This Job Involves

This full-time management position involves overseeing all shipping and receiving operations at our Lawrenceville, NJ site, managing inventory processes, and leading a diverse team to ensure efficient package handling, storage, and distribution. Reporting to JLLs Facilities Manager, youll manage critical supply chain operations for pharmaceutical clients while supervising staff and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires strategic thinking to optimize workflows, manage vendor relationships, ensure seamless operations, and work with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The position demands leadership skills to manage personnel, budgets, coordinate with multiple departments, and maintain Union relationships during standard business hours.

What Your Day-To-Day Will Look Like

Manage and oversee all shipping and receiving operations for both domestic and international shipments.

Oversee the loading and unloading of goods to ensure proper handling and drive package flow for delivery efficiencies.

Perform shipping and receiving duties, supporting the shipment of produced goods and received supplies.

Monitor daily Allocation Shipping Schedule and verify all incoming packages have been successfully delivered.

Documentation And Compliance

Prepare required shipping documents for dangerous goods, diagnostic and research samples while complying with export, customs, GMP and DEA regulations for controlled substances.

Use specialized shipping software to track orders, manage documentation (bills of lading, advanced shipping notices), and maintain compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

Complete monthly area self-assessments to verify regulatory compliance and maintain accurate 2-year Hazmat files.

Team Leadership And Staff Management

Supervise shipping and receiving staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.

Hire, train, and supervise shipping personnel; delegate tasks and enforce safety and compliance protocols.

Provide hands-on training for new staff and ensure completion of required job training through MasterControl and SuccessFactors applications.

Comprehend the Union CBA and maintain Union relationships at the site.

Transportation And Logistics

Manage the flow of incoming oversized shipments by communicating arrivals and expected Central Movers scheduling.

Inventory And Budget Management

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement teams for supply ordering.

Manage shipping and receiving budgets, including cost analysis and vendor negotiations.

Make shipping supply purchases with a focus on cost efficiency.

Specialized Operations

Provide support to Hazmat team for delicate international shipments requiring documentation review and verification.

Support mailroom operations based on site requirements and needs.

Reporting And Performance Management

Develop metrics and reporting systems to track operational efficiency and performance.

Submit monthly Challenges & Achievements for the department to leadership.

Provide regular updates and reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making and meeting SLA requirements.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum 3-5 years of shipping and receiving experience with at least 2 years in supervisory role.

Strong leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate and develop staff.

Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, inventory management systems, and shipping software.

Knowledge of shipping regulations, including hazardous materials and international shipping requirements.

Union personnel supervisory experience.

HazMat shipping / handling experience.

Physical ability to lift 50-60 lbs. and perform facility inspections as needed.

Certified in D.O.T. 49 CFR and I.A.T.A. regulations (must obtain within 3 months if not certified at hire).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in BioPharma or Pharmaceutical industry.

Experience with pharmaceutical shipping regulations (GDP, GMP compliance).

Certification in supply chain or logistics management (APICS, CSCMP, etc.).

5+ years of Hazardous Materials shipping experience.

Hazmat Certification : IATA & DOT.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday : 7 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM or 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM

Dayshift with possible on-call availability.

Salary / Comp

$23.80 - $34.52 per hour

Estimated compensation for this position : 49,500.00 71,800.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
