Junior Project Manager
The Secure and Resilient Systems (SRS) group at Riverside Research manages a diverse portfolio of cybersecurity research programs for government and internal customers. Our team's expertise spans software architectures, algorithms, cryptanalysis, cyber operations, formal methods, and more. While our scientists and principal investigators (PIs) focus on the technical breakthroughs, strong program management ensures these projects run smoothly and successfully.
As a Junior Project Manager, you will support the operational side of our research projects. This includes helping track budgets and schedules, coordinating staffing resources and subcontracts, and keeping communication clear between project teams, support departments (contracts, finance), and external stakeholders.
Examples of the types of tasks you may assist with include :
- Coordinating with PIs and the technical team on deadlines for customer deliverables
- Preparing and updating project spend plans
- Communicating with customers about spending progress against plan
- Reviewing financial data and subcontractor invoices in coordination with the finance and contracts teams
- Supporting proposal efforts and internal process management activities
This role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in program management within the national security and cybersecurity research domain. The right candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences. Responsibilities
Manage projects and programs through their lifecycle, helping ensure alignment with organizational goals and customer needsWork with the finance department, SRS management, and PIs to help track budgets, spending, and forecasts across projectsMonitor project progress and assist in identifying potential risks, issues, or dependencies for escalationCollaborate with task leads, functional managers, and subcontractors to keep projects on schedule and organizedAssist in coordinating with the contracts department to track contract actions and understand budget, staffing and programmatic impactsHelp prepare reports, presentations, and status updates for senior leadership and external stakeholders to include project / program reviews, and group financial informationProvide administrative and coordination support for subcontracting, consulting, and procurement activitiesContribute to proposal efforts to include ROM and ECP pricingPerform other duties as assigned in support of program management activities and group initiativesQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or a related field2+ years of experience in project coordination, project support, financial analysis, or a related roleHands-on experience managing financials across multiple projects and contracts, including EACs, P&L analysis, and FP&A functionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, both internal and externalStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in cross-functional and complex environmentsProven initiative and organizational ability to deliver results in fast-paced, dynamic settingsExperience preparing reports, tracking deliverables, and presenting information to stakeholdersProficiency with Deltek Costpoint and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skillsU.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearanceActive TS / SCI clearance or eligibility to obtain oneExperience supporting defense contracting, government research, or related technical programsFamiliarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR / DFARS) and government contracting processesFoundational understanding of cybersecurity principles and technologiesExperience contributing to proposal development, pricing, or contract documentationHighly motivated self-starter with the ability to manage time and tasks independentlyFamiliarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)Global Comp
$75,000 - $120,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
