Position Summary

Working under general supervision of the Controller, provides complete and accurate financial records and reports in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures and the FERC / RUS Uniform System of Accounts to contribute to efficient management of the Cooperative.

Essential Job Functions

• Manages the Month-End Close process.
• Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports as required by management.
• Posts to and balances general ledger, makes monthly journal entries and maintains subsidiary ledgers. Ensure that all accounts are balanced monthly.
• Oversees accounts payable and manages any disputes with contractors.
• Responsible for assisting Controller / CFO with preparation of operating budget and financial forecasts.
• Oversees all Treasury functions for the cooperative and maintains relationships with the bank and other associated vendors.
• Manages cash flow for the cooperative. This includes projecting the cash inflows and outflows for the month, managing investment of excess cash and providing recommendations when to draw down or pay back funds on the Line of Credit.
• Responsible for preparing PCRF forecasts and providing recommendations to the Controller / CFO.
• Supervises various employees and provides feedback for continued improvement.

Position Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University with emphasis in Accounting.

Must have previous senior-level accountant experience.

On-going training in technical skills

Must have and maintain a valid Texas State Driver's License. If a valid Texas State Driver's License has not been obtained, then it must be acquired in a reasonable amount of time as specified by the cooperative.

Preferred Abilities and Skills

Thorough knowledge of maintaining accurate records of Cooperative's distribution system assets in accordance with the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Accounting Guidelines. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Strong understanding of journal entries.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally in writing, and to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner. Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills while working in a team environment.

Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.

Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable. Proactive and independent. Flexible and enthusiastic.

Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Must be well organized, a self-starter and have excellent time management skills. Ability to meet assigned deadlines.

Electric Cooperative experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
