Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Construction Estimator to support the preconstruction phase of commercial projects. This role is central to preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing plans and specifications, and working closely with project stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and competitive pricing. The estimator will collaborate with a team of professionals including project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation

Develop detailed cost estimates using industry-standard methods and software.
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and documents to determine labor, materials, and equipment needs.
Perform quantity take-offs and assess all cost components for accuracy.

Proposal Preparation

Compile and present clear, organized pricing proposals.

Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to gather current pricing.

Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.

Team Involvement

Mentor and support junior estimators in best practices.

Foster collaboration within the preconstruction team.

Conduct training sessions to ensure alignment with current industry trends.

Risk Assessment

Identify potential risks and opportunities in the estimating process.

Work cross-functionally to mitigate risks and support successful project execution.

Client and Stakeholder Communication

Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal teams to understand expectations.

Attend kickoff meetings, site visits, and client presentations when needed.

Qualifications

Required :

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of experience OR 12+ years of relevant field experience.

Proven experience in commercial construction estimating at a senior level.

Proficiency with estimating software and tools.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.

Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to mentor others and work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred

Experience with CMGC or Design / Build delivery methods.

Solid understanding of MEP systems.

Experience in project budget control and forecasting.
