Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, has a temporary employment opportunity for three Legislative Assistants in the Government Law & Policy practice group of our Tallahassee office.

Position Summary

The Legislative Assistant will support the Government Law & Policy department and provide a wide range of administrative, secretarial, and document processing services. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors legislative committee meetings and writes committee summaries
  • Tracks legislation including : sending out newly-filed bills and e-filing them into the office's bill tracking system, i.e., Lobbytools.
  • Monitors the release of and disseminates legislative committee information
  • Assists in maintaining legislative calendars for lobbyists
  • Completes lobbyist registration forms
  • Generates lobbyist and client bill reports
  • Monitors coverage of the Florida House and Senate during the session months, and other legislative-related duties
  • Prepares a summary of committee debate and action suitable for dissemination
  • Assists with other Government Law & Policy activities / special projects as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies :

  • High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Work efficiently with the ability to multi-task and set priorities while maintaining and delivering the highest quality work product accurately and timely
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, effectively prioritize multiple tasks
  • Education & Prior Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Previous legislative experience preferred
  • Technology

  • Working knowledge of Lobbytools
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
