Description :
A Clinic Receptionist (C.N.A. preferred) greets and interviews patients and obtains signatures for the purpose of initiating the patient record. This includes obtaining financial, demographic, and medical data for patient billings and charting. The Family Practice Clinic Receptionist responds to all calls received on the console promptly and courteously. All patients and visitors are to be welcomed in a warm, caring, and professional manner. Scheduled workdays and times can vary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately scans paperwork.
- Analyzes patient charts (paper and EMR) for signatures and accuracy.
- Analyzes requests for medical information, evaluates legality of releases, and abstracts pertinent portions of medical records, copies, mails and / or releases in accordance with departmental policies to safeguard patient confidentiality.
- Answering department incoming phone calls.
- Answers patient / insurance company billing questions in a professional and courteous manner
- Assists in training of new staff to department.
- Assists with patient care tracking and patient demographic and load tracking.
- Assists with patient documentation and collection of information needed for accurate reporting.
- Collects copays and balances drawer daily.
- Collects patient account information, collects payments and posts to patient accounts.
- Faxing records to physician offices.
- Generates the admission records on the computer.
- Is familiar with all procedures and requirements for initiating pages for fires, codes, and disasters.
- Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures.
- Locating and faxing records to other departments / physician offices for continuation of care.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and physical related information
- Maintain orderly condition of assigned work area.
- Organizes and prioritizes assigned work and schedules time to accommodate work demands and turn-around time requirements.
- Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice.
- Prepare records for scanning into Evident (CPSI). Sorts and files loose paperwork in electronic patient charts; maintains medical records in proper order and verifies scanned paperwork is legible.
- Pre-registers scheduled patients.
- Works with insurance company and / or business to obtain precertification and correct information needed for billing.

Requirements :
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required.Required proficiency in general clerical office duties, i.e., computer keyboarding, average typing skills.Excellent customer services skills required.Previous experience as receptionist or secretary is preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Successful completion of a vocational program for nursing assistants including the State of Illinois Competency Exam or completion of required portion of a RN programCPR certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.In compliance with Criminal Background Check requirementsPHYSICAL DEMANDS
