Operations Supervisor - Tool Cribs
The Operations Supervisor - Tool Cribs is responsible for overseeing Quonset Point's Tool and Wire Rooms on the off-shift. The position oversees the stocking and distribution of production related equipment and consumables both through various Tool and Wire Rooms and Point-Of-Use (POU) solutions utilizing Vending Machines and other mobile distribution platforms. This position requires the ability to effectively organize and assign work to hourly employees such that safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met. This is a fast paced, high-volume work load-environment where organization, prioritizing, communication and teamwork are essential for success.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Ensure proper distribution of work force personnel to adequately staff 10+ Tool and Wire rooms across the facility.
- Maintain supplier relations to ensure needed material is brought in on schedule and ready for operations when requested.
- Daily inspections of Tool Room readiness to ensure the rooms have adequate products and tooling available when the trades need it.
- Daily observation of the Tool Room personnel to ensure the highest standard of customer service and procedure compliance is upheld.
- Team building through constructive feedback and coaching. Identify training opportunities to build team members professional capacity.
- Coordination between Quonset Point and off-site locations to ensure needed support if provided. This includes satellite facilities, Groton Shipyard and road crews.
- Promoting engagement in process improvement to maximize your team's effectiveness.
- Ensure safety is first and foremost for your team and fellow ship builders.
- Additional responsibilities include assisting Facilities Management with planning, scheduling, training, safety, performance monitoring, equipment inspections, etc.
This position is located at the Quonset Point Facility in the North Kingstown, RI location.
