Description

Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families, and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Staff Development – Infection Control Registered Nurse (RN) to join our skilled nursing and rehabilitation team in Monroe. In this role, you will support nursing excellence through staff education, infection prevention, wound and skin care management, and restorative services — ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Development – Infection Control Nurse with Wellspring–Monroe, you will :

Ensure the highest level of quality care in all areas of nursing, including staff development, infection control, MDS, wound and skin care, and restorative services.

Collaborate with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and interdisciplinary team to direct nursing and therapy operations in compliance with all regulations.

Lead orientation and ongoing education for all new and current nursing staff.

Develop and conduct annual skills fairs and ensure all mandatory education is completed.

Track, map, and analyze community-acquired and facility-acquired infections; collaborate with the Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services to prevent transmission.

Provide staff education on infection control and appropriate treatment protocols, with a focus on VRE, MRSA, and C. difficile.

Oversee TB exposure programs and respiratory “FIT” testing for staff, residents, and volunteers.

Coordinate IV team activities to ensure resident-centered care continuity.

Conduct wound assessments, staging, and documentation per protocol; collaborate with nursing, dietitian, and physician on wound care plans.

Perform wound treatments using infection control best practices and participate in weekly wound rounds with the wound care physician.

Develop and maintain restorative care standards and direct restorative therapy services and aides.

Review electronic health records to ensure timely and accurate documentation of resident care, progress, and outcomes.

Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective action plans.

Prepare for and participate in regulatory reviews, audits, and inspections.

Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident rights in all interactions.

Participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule and attend departmental meetings as required.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program.

Current RN license with the State of Michigan Board of Nursing .

  • Infection control certification or willing to obtain certification required

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience ; experience in long-term care, sub-acute care, medical-surgical, or critical care preferred.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to educate, mentor, and support clinical staff.

Commitment to infection prevention and continuous quality improvement.

Schedule and Compensation

Full-time, Day Shift, Monday - Friday

Flexible schedule to meet department needs.

Participation in rotating on-call coverage.

Starting pay : $82,000 - 87,000 / year (based on experience, licensure, and certifications).
