Job description

PACO Group will augment WMATA's QC team with experienced Structural Inspection QC Engineers to validate inspection processes, ensure data integrity, and verify that maintenance and repair work meets design specifications. You will review field inspection reports, audit QC checklists, and perform witness inspections of contractor-performed structural repairs. Your rigorous quality-control oversight will uphold WMATA's standards and support a robust state-of-good-repair program.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and audit structural inspection reports and QC documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Conduct witness inspections of contractor repair work-concrete patching, steel repairs, grouting-to verify compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Maintain and update QC checklists, punch-lists, and NCR (non-conformance report) logs in WMATA's document-control system
  • Coordinate re-inspections where work does not meet acceptance criteria and track corrective-action closure
  • Prepare QC summary reports and present findings to WMATA's Track & Structures leadership
  • Mentor field inspectors on QC best practices and standardized reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 5 years' experience in structural-inspection quality control on transit or heavy-civil projects
  • Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, ASTM, and WMATA structural standards
  • Strong report-writing skills and proficiency with QC documentation systems
  • Excellent observational abilities and ability to enforce corrective measures
