Basic Function

To oversee and purchase products and materials cost effectively for the branches within the region, while maintaining a balance of inventory in relation to sales.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

• Purchases and controls inventory of all products for Branch Office.
• Checks stock and replenishes as needed. Continually monitors (non-moving) items.
• Accounts for and reacts quickly to all backorders and transfers while maintaining minimal lead time.
• Reviews ROR (Recommended Order Reports) and makes decisions on orders and quantities.
• Line Buy Maintenance follow-up weekly. Continually follows strategic inventory plan, watching for trends.
• Scrutinizes transfers and purchase order variances.
• Reconciles Accounts Payable and Purchase Order reports, checking for accuracy.
• Negotiates pricing and maintains relationships with vendors.
• Continually utilizes sourcing techniques to obtain better pricing, material, etc.
• Performs purchase order acknowledgement, follow-up and expediting duties, as necessary.
• Continually maintains relationship with Sales Department. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

3-5 years Purchasing experience or college degree in Supply Chain Management with internship

Product / plastics industry knowledge a plus

Experience on computerized purchasing system

Extremely detail oriented and organized

Strong negotiating expertise

Excellent communication to include vendors & inside staff (Warehouse, Sales and Management)

Ability to prioritize and make decisions
