St. Croix Health is looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Staff Accountant to join our team! This position's primary location is at our St. Croix Falls, WI location.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for monthly closing duties which include journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, compiling and reporting statistical data and departmental financial reporting and analysis. Process payroll and perform analysis and reconciliation of wages, taxes and benefits. Process weekly vendor payments. Assist in compiling information for various governmental reports, including Medicare & Medicaid cost reports, annual tax returns, surveys, census, etc.
1. Monthly close duties, required analysis, and annual duties
- Prepare monthly journal entries ensuring accuracy and reasonableness in estimates
- Manage and analyze big data files to report statistical information for the organization, prepare ad hoc financial reports upon request by leadership
- Review monthly and YTD financial reports with various department leaders
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Assist with and prepare audit, budget and cost report work papers
- Effectively and proactively communicate with all stakeholders to research and resolve issues and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Confirm accuracy of data elements in payroll and general ledger systems through in-depth analysis and work to resolve inaccuracies. Bring issues / concerns to the attention of department management
2. Payroll duties
Perform bi-weekly payroll processing for non-provider staff, semi-monthly payroll for provider staffCreate and ensure proper coding of payroll import files from Paylocity to IntacctCreate monthly Paid Time Off (PTO) liability reports and journal entriesReconcile vendor invoices for employee benefitsReview and ensure proper wage and tax reportingProvide payroll detail reports to leaders3. Other duties and responsibilities
Process weekly vendor paymentsManage and reconcile non-patient accounts receivable invoices / accountsWork collaboratively with finance team to ensure all essential tasks are accounted for upon team members’ absenceUtilize resources effectively and efficiently. Demonstrate responsible financial stewardship. Manage own time effectively and prioritize work to achieve maximum resultsSeek out opportunities to enhance knowledge of Medicare reimbursement, payroll tax regulations and software applications. Share knowledge and learnings with teamProactively problem solve when challenges present themselves. Education & Licensure :
Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance with minimum 2 years related experience required; orBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferredExperience :
Minimum of two (2) years of experience with general ledger accounting experience requiredExperience in healthcare finance preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Highly skilled in financial and numeric dataDemonstrated knowledge in intermediate accounting principles (GAAP)Strong ethical groundingProficient computer skills in accounting systemsIntermediate level skills in Excel formulas and pivot tablesExcellent critical thinking, reasoning and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenPhysical Requirements :
