Job description

Job Summary : Oversee the processing, review, development and implementation of all processes pertaining to the college wide payment of employees.

Minimum Qualifications :

Associate's Degree and 5 years experience.

  • Or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Such as those listed above

Licensing Requirements : Valid driver's license

Hiring Range : $ 57,469- $ 71,836

Job Specific Task List :

  • Directs the activities of the payroll team and respective staff members regarding payroll related matters - (Essential)
  • Develops and oversees all tasks necessary to accomplish the payroll processing objectives, including relationships with internal and external auditors and state and federal agencies - (Essential)
  • Review the biweekly payroll registers in preparation for approval. Confirm net pay DD files for release; authorize the approval to interface the payroll in the general ledger - (Essential)
  • Manage regulatory information via communications and reporting to stay up-to-date on regulatory matters - (Essential)
  • Maintain tax compliance processes to monitor where employees are working from and direct the payroll staff on any new reporting when necessary - (Essential)
  • Prepare / provide guidance on payroll systems, pay schedules, policies, procedures and timely production of employees pay - (Essential)
  • Ensure all payroll activities align with internal controls and segregation of duties, best practices per standard payroll regulatory guidelines - (Essential)
  • Ensure compliance of various statutes and government directives concerning taxes and EE records - (Essential)
  • Assist with preparation and approval of biweekly tax payments, quarterly and annual tax reporting, semi-annual workers comp audit, and annual internal audit reports - (Essential)
  • Initiates continuous process improvement, including automated validation / checks, status reports, performance reports and system automation - (Essential)
  • Primary subject-matter expert on payroll-related issues, participating or leading department, division, and college-wide projects - (Essential)
  • Ensures department participates in continued professional development to stay up to date on recent regulatory updates that affect the payroll process - (Essential)
  • Responsible for ensuring all staff in the payroll department are fully cross-trained and ensures operational continuity, including themselves - (Essential)
  • Primary backup for the Payroll Director and secondary backup for specialist and technicians - (Essential)
  • Ensures payroll processes, procedures and checklists are regularly updated and communicated - (Essential)
  • Responsible for the accurate contribution amounts for the approved retirement systems within the college, including employee and employer amounts - (Essential)
  • Assist director with annual employee review process for payroll staff - (Essential)
  • Assist with annual budget preparation - (Essential)
