Land Stewardship Specialist

The Land Stewardship Specialist (LSS) manages and advances resource management plans and stewardship of a TNC-owned property in the Silver Creek Watershed in Southcentral Idaho. The LSS directly contributes to the Conservancy's efforts to permanently conserve lands and waters in Idaho by enhancing and restoring conservation values on TNC-stewarded lands through science-based resource management. The LSS provides technical skills and support to the Idaho Business Unit by organizing, directing, and implementing preserve management projects, including upland and aquatic restoration, regenerative agriculture, soil conservation, property maintenance and weed management.

The LSS will synthesize data collected through field surveys and prepare resource condition reports to develop a land management plan for this newly acquired property in collaboration with other staff, then create and execute annual stewardship workplans. They will also work with other staff and contractors to design and implement land and water restoration projects on this property. The LSS is responsible for all facets of project management, as well as contracting, lease management, resource monitoring, and reporting, working in coordination with other TNC staff to achieve land stewardship and conservation goals. They maintain close communication with lessees, adjacent landowners, contractors, public agencies, and other TNC staff.

This position is responsible for the maintenance of infrastructure and grounds on TNC-owned land, including buildings and facilities, fences, irrigation systems, weed control, and other property management tasks. May require work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances. This a three-year term position, working year-round, full-time.

What You'll Bring :

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience coordinating staff or volunteers.
• Willingness to build relationships and good communication skills to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., local community, government officials, internal scientists and other staff.

Desired Qualifications

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program . Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned / leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.

Salary Information :

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $56,000-$60,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
