Job description

Production Supervisor

We are proud to be the largest bar soap manufacturer in North America and the flagship Dove bar factory in Unilever. The purpose of this Production Supervisor is to oversee the shift safety, quality, production and people development / management of the site's bar soap manufacturing department to achieve continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Working as a trusted guide to plant management for all production related queries.
  • Driving execution of the production plans for a shift of approximately 25-30 union workforce personnel.
  • Teaching the team to perform their roles in compliance with the written regulatory programs for the site in operation 24x7.
  • Providing a common standard of communication and engagement across the factory.
  • Utilizing appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team.
  • Reducing costs due to waste and minimizing impact to health, safety and the environment.
  • Applying core knowledge of Quality skills to sustain Quality standards in the factory operation.
  • Promoting the development of a highly effective team through the establishment of a positive team climate supported by authentic leadership and clear communication.
  • Facilitating technical improvements using World Class Manufacturing and UMS improvement tools.
  • Coaching Operators and teams to increase team performance.
  • Holding operators and the team accountable.
  • Making governance decisions for the team and resolving unresolved team issues.
  • Applying rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses.
  • Identifying, prioritizing and addressing problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Coordinating business resources and applying risk management processes.
  • Resolving conflicts where identified.
  • Timely and accurate administration for a cluster of teams; shift rosters, pay, performance, training and safety.
  • Liaising with Sourcing Unit leads to ensure policy compliance.
  • Preparing work plans within resource constraints and reviewing implementation to drive improvement.
  • Understanding the business needs for change and innovation.

Required qualifications include :

  • Bachelors degree, preferably within a STEM discipline.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably managing teams.
  • Your focus, leadership and collaborative nature will be a huge positive contribution to success in this role. You will need to adapt to change and communicate clearly and effectively across all tiers of organization. You will need experience in managing people, guiding them and holding them accountable, while harnessing a culture of continuous improvements in our manufacturing practices.
  • Leading improvement projects for operational processes, you will need to have a strong understanding of the end-to-end manufacturing process. This includes the chemical and electro-mechanical processes and controls and you'll be able to interpret technical diagnostics, identify key issues and process risks.
  • Must be able to work a rotational shift schedule : 7 days on, 2 days off, 7 days on, 3.5 days off, 5 days on, 4.5 days off. Rotating schedule includes days & nights.
  • Pay : The pay range for this position is $69,360 to $104,040.

    Bonus : This position is bonus eligible.

    Long-Term Incentive (LTI) : This position is LTI eligible.
