The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a strong, dynamic individual to provide direct support as an NSHE Specialist 1. This position provides daily fiscal and operational support for CABNR / Biochemistry & Molecular Biology department. This position will report to the fiscal manager. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize daily needs.
The position provides fiscal, administrative and human resources support. Duties include but are not limited to managing and monitoring complex departmental budgets across multiple funding sources, preparing financial reports and projections, maintaining accounting records, and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and procedures. This position plays a key role in supporting faculty with grant management, including budget development, reporting, and financial oversight throughout the life of the award. Responsibilities also include reconciling accounts, preparing journal vouchers and cost transfers, monitoring course fee accounts, and assisting with annual close-out processes. The NSHE Specialist 1 will serve as a departmental resource for interpreting financial policies and coordinating with the CABNR Dean's Office to ensure fiscal compliance. The role includes assisting with managing processes in Workday, preparing travel documents, handling reimbursements, monitoring student and temporary-worker hours. The position also supervises the Administrative Assistant 3, including assigning tasks and overseeing performance.
