Description
Medical Assistants are unlicensed assistive personnel who work under the direct supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. They participate in total patient care in ambulatory Hematology-Oncology clinics, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and providing support during life-threatening emergencies. MAs may perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services when supervision, training, specific authorization, and records are in place.
Salary range : $28.06 / hr - $37.02 / hr
Qualifications
Required :
- Medical assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited school (ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP, or ABHES)
- Or, national certification issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT
- Or, completion of a medical assistant program plus at least 10 hours of training in administering injections, skin tests, venipuncture, and related procedures
- High School Diploma, GED, or transcripts
- Knowledge of symptomology and medical emergencies
- Ability to administer CPR
- Skill in administering medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous)
- Skilled in venipuncture adhering to OSHA PPE standards
- Ability to obtain vital signs and assist in emergencies
- Proficient in computerized patient systems and medical terminology
- Courtious interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Skill in performing EKGs and assisting with procedures
- Ability to order and maintain supplies
- Ability to organize tasks and facilitate patient flow
- Flexibility to work in back and front office
- Knowledge of procedures like audiometry, spirometry, skin removals, etc.
- Ability to perform quality control and waived tests
- Knowledge of safety protocols for biohazardous materials
- Ability to work overtime in emergencies
- Punctuality and good attendance
- Customer service skills
- Physical ability to lift 30 lbs or more
