Description

Medical Assistants are unlicensed assistive personnel who work under the direct supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. They participate in total patient care in ambulatory Hematology-Oncology clinics, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and providing support during life-threatening emergencies. MAs may perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services when supervision, training, specific authorization, and records are in place.

Salary range : $28.06 / hr - $37.02 / hr

Qualifications

Required :

  • Medical assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited school (ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP, or ABHES)
  • Or, national certification issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT
  • Or, completion of a medical assistant program plus at least 10 hours of training in administering injections, skin tests, venipuncture, and related procedures
  • High School Diploma, GED, or transcripts
  • Knowledge of symptomology and medical emergencies
  • Ability to administer CPR
  • Skill in administering medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous)
  • Skilled in venipuncture adhering to OSHA PPE standards
  • Ability to obtain vital signs and assist in emergencies
  • Proficient in computerized patient systems and medical terminology
  • Courtious interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Skill in performing EKGs and assisting with procedures
  • Ability to order and maintain supplies
  • Ability to organize tasks and facilitate patient flow
  • Flexibility to work in back and front office
  • Knowledge of procedures like audiometry, spirometry, skin removals, etc.
  • Ability to perform quality control and waived tests
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for biohazardous materials
  • Ability to work overtime in emergencies
  • Punctuality and good attendance
  • Customer service skills
  • Physical ability to lift 30 lbs or more

Highly Preferred :

  • Current CA Phlebotomy License (CPT)
