Job Description
The Land Acquisition Specialist plays a vital role in identifying, evaluating, and acquiring land for multifamily development projects. The role requires a collaborative mindset to work closely with the Director of Development, Director of Capital Markets and Asset Management, and Investment Committee to facilitate purchasing decisions and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Market Research & Analysis :
- Conduct in-depth analysis of regional and local market fundamentals to identify high potential opportunities.
- Identify new markets and monitor existing markets for development opportunities.
- Build expertise in each market to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain the site selection database and incorporate new ideas to build better data capture practices with the goal of enhancing decision making and efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement :
Build and maintain relationships with brokers, developers, municipalities, landowners, and other stakeholders to source development opportunities.Preliminary Due Diligence & Evaluation :
Review land documentation, including surveys, flood maps, zoning ordinances, and other regulatory requirements to determine development feasibility.Work with Director of Development to analyze financial models and determine project viability.Acquisition & Development Support :
Prepare deal review packages for Investment Committee meetings.Negotiate land purchases, including LOI preparation and contract finalization.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Urban Planning, or related field preferred.0-3 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, development, finance, economics, or a related role.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel; experience with GIS or mapping software is a plus.Key Competencies :
