About the Role :
We are seeking a Profee Coding Team Lead with a robust orthopedic background, especially in spinal procedures. You will play a crucial role in monitoring work queues, resolving coding queries from physicians and billing staff, and ensuring effective communication among teams. Additionally, you will be responsible for tracking any missing operative reports.
Your Responsibilities :
Review medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures for accurate code assignment to ensure compliance and reimbursement.
Engage with physicians when documentation is unclear or code assignments are complex.
Stay updated on coding guidelines and compliance regulations, advising management of any concerns.
Provide mentorship and training for new coders and ongoing education for team members.
Assist the coding manager with special assignments and help in resolving unbilled issues.
Act as a resource for coding-related inquiries from team members.
Encourage professional development by meeting continuing education requirements and supporting departmental goals.
Monitor performance metrics and assist in setting departmental goals.
Identify training needs to enhance team performance.
Report personnel issues to management and support team members with their queries and training needs.
Help management monitor staff KPIs, timekeeping, and schedules.
Qualifications for Success :
Minimum of 3 years in Profee coding.
Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA is required.
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Preferred : Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
Proficient knowledge of ICD-10 and Profee coding guidelines.
Experience with billing and denial processes.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent analytical abilities for data interpretation.
Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, medical and surgical terminology.
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Understanding of coding compliance and insurance payor policies across multiple specialties.
Preferred Skills :
Experience in auditing.
Background in education and training.
