The talented Architect and Engineering department at Forest Lawn is in search of a Civil Drafter 1.This position will create designs, drawings, and other technical information for use in construction. Responsible for providing Civil 3D and AutoCAD expertise to support department projects. Create traditional designs, verify that drawings meet required specifications to create technical documents and reports.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Utilize AutoCAD to execute drawings while meeting project and industry specifications and requirements. Required skills include:
- Sheet set-up, scaling, dimensioning, information layering, Xreference, sections, elevations, and drawing presentation.
- Scan drawings and documents.
- Use Excel and 3-D rendering software.
- Successfully trouble-shoot most PC and plotter problems.
- Identify and organize drawing sheets/project sets with the supervision of the Design Manager
- Determine drawing elements needed for each design, and produce required plans, sections, elevations and details.
- Ensure drawings are accurate and complete. Refers to supervisor for guidance and questions.
- Coordinate drawings prepared by in-house resources and outside consultants and incorporate drawings into a complete project set.
- Under general supervision, accurately prepare project drawings sets.
- Have knowledge of civil design, including grading plan composition and quantity take-off.
- Prepare sales maps, file maps, and process property reservations and releases.
- Prepare basic SWPPP BMP application(s), legal description files and dedication maps, plans, profiles, sections, details, alternate design schemes, and presentation drawings.
- Prepare presentation documents under general supervision. Work as part of a team and independently when needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid California Driver License.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years of AutoCAD technical school.
- At least 1 year of full-time AutoCAD and/or Civil3D work experience.
- Proficient in general office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Procore software is beneficial, but not required.
- Basic core proficiency in 2D CAD and skills such as sheet set-up, scaling, dimensioning, layering and x-refs w/ ability to translate designs and details provided by others into a coordinated drawing set.
- Demonstrate a basic proficiency and understanding of construction document layout and detailing including plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules under general supervision.
